I saw this at the show for $25. It was very well made and extremely strong. I will be replacing the one I did DIY with this grill.

I think I’ve seen something similar before, but my question would be if the heater puts out enough heat from the vertical position to actually grill whatever is on the horizontal rack (like burgers)?

Looks like all it might do is warm your buns. blush

From what I have seen most guys heat up hot dogs or heat up leftovers they put in tin trays or boil water.

I bought one of these in non galvanized form which looks like it will work great. I just flip it upside down and the hooks go right around the handle on the buddy.

I wonder how LD’s Hot Rack compares in price to the $3.15 rack you got from Amazon?

Hot dogs? Maybe? And who brings leftovers out ice fishing?

I want a thick juicy burger grilled dammit… grin

Just to be clear, the linked one from amazon is galvanized:

I think just having the bare bar rack works much better with utilizing the heat vs the aluminum plate. I went the $3 mini grill grate from Fleetfarm route, works perfectly! I’ve cooked Chunky Soup, Ravioli, Pizza Rolls, ect…

For those who don’t wanna spend any money, if you take your grill grate off the buddy and put the bottom into the top holes, it forms a level grilling rack. Works great for some brats, or even chicken patties!

THIs is something I v been doing for a long time…as mentioned earlier, not much heat hits the front of the rack all the heat is in the back 1/4.

Hey guys. I was at the St.Paul Ice Show today. I met the guy with the buddy heater grills. He is a nice guy. His idea is pretty great. I’m a machinist / fabricator by trade. His product is pretty solid. In my opinion, it not really a “grill”. It’s to heat up a jar of soup your wife packed for you for lunch. It also its for perhpas boiling hotdogs. It could be used for re-heating a nice, pre cooked lunch. You’re not going to grill burgers on this unit. But after talking with him, and looking at his products, I would buy one for my big buddy. I just didn’t have enough ” mad money ” with me today. Hope this helps. Good product, if you use it the way it was intended.

Well, there you have it. You can do this free or spend $25 for the LD’s Hot Rack. I’ve been just as guilty for buying the “show special” gimmick.

But nothing like that grease hitting the heat…smoking. woot

I bought one from him last year. He had a couple discounted racks that were slightly blemeshed. Actually his very pretty and very pregnant wife was a good saleswoman…. whistling

I really like the one JoeMX1825 shows. Do you recall exactly what you purchased at Fleet Farm? I looked at their site and didn’t see it. Thank you. A friend of mine has the one from the show and it really does work well, and made very good.

Holy lick was that some good stuff.

I’m lazy. I bring a pack of hotdogs and an extendable weenie roasting stick…
