My dad and I made it out to Brushy friday afternoon/evening. Started out drifting a large rock pile w/ 1/4oz. BFT jigs and leaches. I got bit immediately by what was probably a nice musky but I’ll never know what it was since it broke the 6lb fireline. After a couple more passes with only 1 bass coming to the boat, we moved to another hump and anchored up for some casting and slip bobbering. We caught 6 nice walleyes in the 18-19inch range. Five of them were caught on 1/8oz BFT jigs (black) and 1 on a slip bobber. The fish were pretty shallow (7-12ft). We had quite a few leaches disappear w/out feeling a hit and the ones we hooked didn’t bite very hard at all. Just a tiny tap usually as it was falling was all you’d get. I forgot my camera so my dad got a few pics w/ his film camera, but won’t be developed for a while. Oh well, no monsters anyway. None of the fish were milking anymore so it should be picking up for the next couple weeks.

Thanks for the report Andy. I hear Brushy is full of trees under the surface and can be tough to fish in areas. Seems like you guys figured out a good way to catch em.
    Thanks, Bill

Nice work Andy. I havent been out for over a month, but if we get a rainy day I might have to head over to Brushy. Whered you get your leeches, does Duncombe have them yet?

Nick, Duncombe had leeches a few weeks ago. Keith’s outdoors in Fort Dodge has them also.

We actually got our leaches from Bill in Polk City. He’s got some really nice leaches right now.
