Not on the boat but we went and ripped some local trails for the last 3 hours. What a blast watching these kids learn to ride. We have a few jumps built and a ton of trails. Kids range in ages 7 to 12. Always a good time watching them push each other and how excited they all are.

As a bonus, one of the moms even brought 2 crave cases of sliders from white castle
October 26, 2021 at 7:38 am #2069776Very cool Ron, nice job getting the kids off there butts and screens for a night.
October 26, 2021 at 8:10 am #2069784Awesome!
Kudos to you for getting kids outside doing something out of their norm. There’s nothing like the thrill of seeing a kid try something for the first time…hunting, dirtbiking, catching a fish, and potentially creating a life long interest or hobby.
Hard pass on the white castle food though, unless of course that TP shortage situation has been fully resolved

Starting to get my 5 year old into it a little bit. He’s not allowed to jump yet, he is still working on his whiskey throttle.

Whiskey throttle is definitely a thing I see often with kids. Oh I can’t lie. The yz250 has bitten me a few good times as well. My boy started on a pw 50 when he was 4 and then I bored it to a 65 and then bought him a 110. Now he is at the point he needs a yz80 or crf150

Yeah no one wants to see any one get hurt. But it happens. It’s not my house I am not liable I’m just out teaching these kids to rip. Thats how life works.

I did not say to wrap them in bubble wrap! I also say ‘Let the kids have some fun”. But, it’s the world we live in now. Not when I grew up. We didn’t have a personal injury lawyer for every 100 people! If all the kids are supplying ‘their’ own bikes, why then by all means kudos to all and enjoy the occasions!

[/quote]I hear what your saying, law suit law suit law suit. I supply my son his bike and my bike or wheeler depending on the day. Other kids have there own bikes. I’m basically a chaperone but really I’m just a kid like the other one. Every one switches bikes and tries other bikes. But no liability of mine. All there parents are some where in the neighborhood and its city land
October 26, 2021 at 8:16 pm #2070015I don’t see anything wrong with it. I actually thought it was nice to see them all wearing helmets and gloves when you posted the photos.

I wont let any kid ride with us if they don’t have saftey gear. My best friend died when we were 14 when we were riding. He had full saftey gear on at the time but his helmet was cheap and exploded when it hit the tree.
DeucesPosts: 5236October 27, 2021 at 7:18 am #2070072My cousin many years ago biked competitively and was quite good from what I understand. One race got hurt good, had to go in and get scanned/x-rayed and they found something far worse that would’ve killed him eventually if he had not gotten injured that day.
All’s good now and lives a good life but just goes to show life works mysteriously. Have fun and enjoy it, whether you may be liable or not.
LabDaddy1Posts: 2442October 27, 2021 at 7:42 am #2070075I get all sides of this. Liability is a big issue nowadays, gimruis has a good point that I kinda overlooked, and mr. beads ain’t wrong…
Cool post, bear. There’s lots of ways to be charitable, and I need to start doing it more myself.

That’s a real life example of how the proper gear can save a life. I have a couple friends who refuse to wear a helmet when they ride their motorcycle and I just shake my head at it. One of them even got into a high speed accident and landed on his back on the pavement but he was wearing a back pack and it slid up and cushioned the blow of his head from hitting the road. He STILL won’t wear a helmet after that incident.
October 27, 2021 at 8:29 am #2070095Sorry Wanna Be was not meant as an attack just think the kids need to do more of what we did than sit at home in front of a screen.
As to the helmet issue I rode motorcycles for a few years and did not wear one, I felt like my dad did about it. If I crash it bad I did not want to have to have someone wipe my a@# for me. I did put it down one time but it was not bad, just some road rash. To each his own on this, now kids or anyone riding trails or jumping then yeah put a good one on.
October 27, 2021 at 9:23 am #2070125Do you take 50 year old kids? LOL
I have no prejudice about who comes with. As long as you have a cool machine and let me do some wheelies on it, I’ll be happy.
