While at the lake this weekend, a co-boater stepped on my sons St. Croix and broke off about a foot of the tip. Has anyone dealt with St. Croix with a similar issue and what was the result.

    Thanks.

Pretty sure that 90% of all rods claimed on warranty are broken in a similar fashion. You’re just not afraid to admit it.

I’d probably just buy another rod but we’ll see if anyone else has similar experience. I’m guessing they would replace it if it isn’t too old.

Seems to me that the co-angler who stepped on your sons rod needs to step up and take some responsibility for his/her actions.
I know if I stepped on my buddies rod and broke it, that my homeowners insurance would cover 100 percent replacement. I don’t carry a deductible on liability and your son’s rod would fall under my liability, if I was the one who broke it.

Now if I broke my own rod, my homeowners insurance will not cover that. In that case, I’d follow St Croix policy on repair/replacement as mentioned above.

Had a rod break on a cast the week after opener.
The web site has a few alternatives.
To send it in for replacement
they have $15 shipping to them available
and charge $20 for shipping and handling
    total cost would be $35
Since mine was a 2 piece rod,
I opted to pay $30 for a new tip only delivered.
    It arrived in 2 days.
They also have upgrade options on broken rods.

Just had an avid replaced, I was honest with them and told them it was my fault, I paid shipping and like $75 and they sent me a brand new one. Customer service was great and had my new Rod in less than a week.

Have a 66mf avid and a 7ml triumph broke in my garage from last year still. Never sent it in, wasn’t that impressed with them at all.

Don’t know if warranties transfer but if anyone wants to buy em super cheap and deal with the warranty issue send me PM.

ML I broke the tip off, avid broke on a hook set two tips down on a chilly night.

I ended up ordering a new top section for $30. That seems to be a reasonable price and quick fix. Thanks for the replies.
