Broke drill chuck with Clam auger

a question – anyone ever have an issue with the chuck screw breaking off when running a clam auger on the conversion plate? I’m working with a Rigid GEN5X Drill 700 in# of torque, and the second gen clam plate, six inch auger. So far the screw that holds the chuck on has broken twice. It seems that when I stop the drill turning it stops on a dime and maybe there is to much mass in the auger so the chuck keeps turning and busts the screw.

Any thoughts? recommendations, other than getting a new drill?

    Any thoughts?

Good thing Rigid offers a lifetime warranty. First I’ve read of this issue; many Iceshanty members use the same drill, so you would think it would come up more often if it was a big issue.

If it’s variable speed release the trigger slowly and not just release quick causing a sudden stop.
