I will be meeting a buddy on Briggs in the near future for some after dark fishing. His boat this time so closer to St Cloud than TC Metro. I noticed on the DNR website that this lake has an avg water clarity of 1.8ft. Our only opportunity is to go after dark due to other obligations. Just curious if we should stick with Briggs or search elsewhere in the area with a little better clarity.

Neither of us have fished this lake so any tips on what usually works is appreciated. Main target will be walleye.

Briggs is not the lake that comes to mind when I think Walleye’s in the Saint cloud area. That being said it is a rather small body of water and the DNR surveys do show a decent # of various sizes of walleye. My first choice for walleye would be the horseshoe chain of lakes and Clearwater lake. I’m not a big walleye fisherman but I know I run across more than a few walleyes while bass fishing on both of these lakes. Best of luck to you. I hope that someone may have some better info. for you on Briggs.

briggs is more of a day time thing. the only time I have caught walleyes after dark is with rapalas in the fall.

horseshoe chain will produce but you will be dealing with a lot of boaters and offcoarse the catfish and more catfish……didi I say catfish? you will catch a lot of cats

Thanks for the input guys I was kind of worried about that.

Last month we went out on horse shoe out of cedar island lake. Same scenario, fished from 8pm to 5 am. From 8pm to about 10 pm we caught a few eyes trolling after that the lakes completely shut off. We didn’t see a single boat on the water after 11pm. So we assumed it was a day bite there as well. We did however have a good time catching up while catching a ton of kitties
