I have a friend coming from out east who’s gonna be staying at Pelican Lake and he’s not much of a fisherman, but would like to catch something, maybe crappies, walleyes or northerns.

Anyway he’s showing up mid July up there and I’ve never fished that lake, but volunteered to come up for a few days and wander aimlessly with him and his buddy.

Any basic suggestions on what and where to fish up there?

I’m figuring the basics, lindy rigs, jigs and raps.
And that the crappies with be in deeper water, northers along the weedlines of drop offs and not sure where the walleyes are going to be but suspect deeper water??

    Makes sense??
Any part of the lake better for..??
Any suggestions on bait/where to fish and ???

Sounds about right….If he wants to catch fish might think about hiring a guide for 1 day or head a bit further up north to Chris Granrud..

Take it slow, that lake likes to eat props and skegs

Just looking at the lake map and I see what ya mean…slow and easy.

He’s stuck on this lake and I doubt he can afford to hire a guide, good idea for lake your not familiar with, but I think he thinks I can find fish…

    Thanks all.

Take up Bass fishing. That lake is loaded with nice smallies and bucketmouths. If that fails, the gills are usually a piece of cake.

All about finances, with out making this long, he doesn’t have the funds to hire a guide.
Other wise it’d be a good idea to find a decent guide and fish with them for a day.

    But thanks for the suggestion.
