I made my first panfish outings since early ice this weekend and man what a bite!We started Saturday morning on a small lake outside Crosby targeting bluegills and only drilled 6 holes all day, thats nice for a change. The fishing was outstanding with around 100 gills caught and over half were 8 inches or better with a couple bonus 14 inch crappies. With our gills down we switched to crappies on Sunday and pulled 2 limits in a couple hours on another small lake north of town,6 more holes .The gills were suspended outside the weedlines in 15-20 fow and killing a diamond jig with a waxie or plastics. The crappies were a little deeper and suspended a little higher, these fish also were caught on the diamond jig and waxie.I must have tried a dozen different jigs both days and the diamond was the killer hands down.It was nice to not have to rip holes all day to get some fish, but I was due for one of these days.
    Til next time…..

Sounds like a great day of fishing with little effort.

Nice report and what an outing
Do you ever hit the mining pits in that area during the winter?

Most mine pits are stocked with trout and are off limits during the winter I do fish the surrounding lakes alot.
