I just visited the area forum, to see what I’m in for this weekend in Nisswa.
I was quite surprised at the lack of posts.
Everyone must be stopping in at Sportland to get first hand info from Dave and Jason?
    Good luck
    cheers

From what I am hearing the walleyes are biting, not fast and furious but biting. The crappies are being caught consistently for the guys that are targeting them.
You are on the right track when you stop by Sportland and talk to Dave or Jason

I am heading up this weekend to fish with my kids, rumor has it that the bite is starting to get going again.
And yes for those that know me, I will be ice-fishing.
H E double hockey sticks must have froze over
I keep telling myself that it is for my kids.
I will let everyone know what is going on up there when I get back.

Hey Ron, what lake are you staying on?
You can’t go wrong stopping into Sportland and talking to Dave and Jason for an update.
    Good luck

I am staying at my dad’s house, Gull.
I have known Jason before he could walk, and Dave has known my before I could crawl, that goes back a good 40 years. So I always swing in a say
I might need to drive over to a small lake and see if I can get into some sumo crappies but I hear that my dad is catching some nice eyes right now. As long as the kids enjoy themselves, I really do not care what I do.

The DNR has been focusing enforcement on a cetain smaller lake in the area.
Rumor has it that some knuckleheads pulled around 1,000 crappies through the ice so far this winter. At least that is what they have been shooting off their mouths saying.
I hope that number is very exagerated, but I’m very glad that somebody blew the whistle.
Have not heard if they actually have suspects or pending enforcement.
    Good luck
    cheers

Well, Let us say that ice was on December 1. If a guy fished every day by himself and pulled his limit every day it IS possible that he could have nailed 870 crappies before this evenings run. That is of course if he ate 20 slabs per day. I hope he’s not deep frying them because his cholesterol may be a little high at this point.

JK, I hope they pounce on the idiots!!
