Gull Lake question

I am staying at Madden’s Oct.6th-8th. I have never fished Gull before. I am thinking that I will fish for walleye’s any pointers on what structure I should look for- shallow, deep, rock, old weed lines? I’ve got a map and I like exploring, so I don’t need specific spots. Just something to push me in the right direction. I would think pulling cranks or jiggin’ is the standard for fall fishing up there, right?

    Thanks in advance-
    Tony

Gocatfish- It has been a while since I fished Gull but the last time I did it was early september. We did troll cranks off the first big break from shore and did alright with numbers but not any real big fish. We also slip bobbered weed lines in the evening and did real well. Good luck I hope this might help. I am sure someone else will chime in with more up to date info though. Love2Fish.

Thanks guys I am usually over on Chequamegon Bay fishing for sumo Smallies and Walleye’s in Oct. but this particular weekend is the Fiance’s work get away, so the whole weekend is paid for Kind of hard to pass up a free weekend on Gull Lake, especially at Madden’s. From what I see on their website, it looks like a really nice place.

    Thanks again

MMMM fall on gull! As you get closer let me know. I have a number of freinds on gull that pound the eyes all fall.

Pulling huskies’ in 6 to 8 ft can be on fire at night that time of year! As can red tails off the first break during the day. Shoot me a PM closer to oct and I should be able to help some more.

I’m starting to think I may need to make an eye trip this fall. (Did I say that?)

Fish the north side of Sqaw Point (the entire side) in about 10ft of water during the daytime, if your lucky and have a chop and partly cloudy day then go with a 6 inch Original Floating Rapala in Jet Black color. YES jetblack color(SPRAYPAINT A COUPLE), troll about 2mph right over the dying out veggie and they will come up to attack it . EXCELLENT TIME OF THE YEAR TO SPEED TROLL FOR NORTHERNS WITH BUCKTAILS. THEY LOVE CLOWN COLORS. SAME AREA TOO AND THE HOLE IN THE BAY AREA.

There is not a better time on Gull than fall.
I can agree with the redtails and pulling cranks.
Get ahold of me closer to the trip and I can get you on some fish. Keep catching those eyes to make room for more bass

You need a smallie fix in the worst way with a statement like that.

I will be staying at Grandview this weekend on Gull with the in-laws. I am hoping to get them into some bass fishing and wondering if anyone has heard anything on what’s working out there.

Based on my experience on this lake in the past, you can ust hit any weedline and caught fish. Hopefully this is still the case.

I also forgot to mention that I am Not fishing the MN BASS state tourney so don’t worry about your spots being exploited as I will be up till Monday. PM if needed.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Got out the last couple of days on big Gull and ended up getting into some nice bass and walleyes. We keyed in on the 12-16 foot weedlines that had cabbage. We caught the fishing on 5″ in finesse worms either texas rigged or with a mushroom head jig. Tried spinnerbaits, cranks and tubes but won’t get close to as many bites as with the smaller worms. The fish hit pretty aggressive throughout the day. In the people that we talked to, they had the same luck.
