Brainerd plowed roads

Any recommendations on a resort to go out of for plowed roads. Haven’t fished the area. Mainly looking for convenience. Hitting a wrestling tournament there this weekend and figure might as well bring the fishhouse versus getting a hotel. Take short drive and plowed road over fish. Any crappies or walleyes would be a bonus

The plowed roads took a kicking by the storm. Most houses we’re taken off. Maybe call Ernie’s on Gull and go out to to the first hole. You’ll have a great place to eat there too. My guess is most roads now are trails, not plowed roads.

Does Ernies charge an access fee?

If you want to go cheap and not pay an access fee you should probably stay home. JMHO

Paid 15 to get on last night in the bemidji area. Totally worth it when you only get out a handful of times a year. I am interested in brainerd lake access in the coming days as well. Paid or free, doesn’t matter.

In past years I don’t think Ernie’s charges a fee. They don’t plow the road, they just let you access the lake from the property and locals with plows do the plowing. I have no idea what condition it is but you should be able to get somewhere in the pout grounds. Of course I’m sure Ernies wouldn’t mind you swinging in for a drink or food.

Pretty nice being able to order food and pick it up right off the lake

Just posted on another thread but figured I would post here. Stopped into brainerd bait shop and was told plowed roads are open all over the place so who knows. I heard reports of a place with plowed rod access for $2-3 anyone know where that was at? For me I am looking to get on pout

Fyi Ernie’s did not charge which I actually felt guilty not paying to use a nice plowed road without paying. Not much for a bite but accomplished a place to stay with dogs and not needing a hotel. Was a little interesting with them having a party event and pulling a fishhouse between buildings with a coupon hundred people partying walking around. Luckily I didn’t graze anyone.

Swung by there today. looks there there is a plowed road in one direction and you might be able to driver the other since there has been so much sled traffic.
