It sure doesn’t make you look innocent to lawyer up, threaten a lawsuit, and refuse the lie detector test.

Edit: Nevermind, it says they took the tests.

It says in the article that they took the lie detector test on Monday. Nothing on the results though.

I have no idea if they cheated or not, it’s just to bad we live in a day that people even look to cheating as an option. They proved people were cheating at the ice fishing contest on Bass lake. They gave away a new truck as top prize. People that won it knew each other and that made people do some digging.

I wonder what their secret pike bait is.
I was told hotdogs were the ticket once. I tried it without any luck.

Don’t need bait if you bring your own fish into the contest mrgreen mrgreen

500k worth of prizes…. in tournaments like this? And always seem to catch fish every year in every tournament. Just seems odd. People goes years with catching a single thing.

I’m not accusing these guys of cheating. The reality is though that cheating has been going on in fishing tournaments since they first began. It’s no worse today than it’s ever been and likely better than it once was.

I think they either canceled or moved the tournament one of those years due to inconsistent ice. So does no fish mean they participated and skunked or they never registered? Too many coincidences. Nobody is that lucky…..nobody. I call bull$hit no matter what some polygraph says.

Sorry SCRATCHER, forgot to ask, what are the other reasons you won’t fish a tourney or contest? Sounds like you have more than one?

I know there’s another thread too but I’m with RiverRuns. Let’s remember the real point of the contest.
Volunteer run and over $3 million dollars to charity. No one is perfect and remember all of the free staff and what this does for local charities. I’m glad they are investigating and hope this ends one way or the other definitively.

    Anyone who’s gone can appreciate

Settle down pal… I don’t think that’s what he meant. I assume he meant it like this.

Riverruns: Hey Scratcher lets go to the bar.
Scratcher : No thanks buddy, you go ahead and drink “mine”. I’m going to bed.

He doesn’t own the beer or the fish. He probably doesn’t even fish on Gull. Take a Xanax buddy there are fish to catch waytogo

As for the guys, it sure looks bad.

Then again I’ve watched riverruns posts the last two years. His group is doing awesome. We have local friends that place about every 4 out of 5 years. While my immediate group is 0 for 14 years. Some of this is due to the other guys working harder, drinking less, and figuring it out. Some is also dumb luck.

I look at the dudes in question and some items are statistical anomalies worth questioning. Others are not. ex. .3# perch on one of the years. Typically last place is .6-.8, why risk getting caught with something that almost never places?

1# perch, I caught one of these elsewhere on the chain a couple years ago. Seen the general size profile go from stunted to larger(still not eater class) the past couple years. Means it’s possible but still an anomaly worth investigating.

Schmucks like me go because it’s a good cause and a reunion amongst old friends. I hope these guys are like my friends who consistently catch vs schmucks who are gaming the contest.

Joe, that’s exactly right you could not have summed it up better!! riverruns settle down all I said was its not my thing! not my fish or my deer. i just like the outdoors, fish your a33 off at all your tourneys or contest! all I say is you wont see me there your chance to catch 1 will be better!

I’m with Scratcher. I cannot stand crowds while in the outdoors hunting or fishing (unless with friends/family). I will run a long ways in the boat or drag a sled a long ways to be alone on the water. I wouldn’t walk across the street to sit on a bucket surrounded by thousands of people, praying that a fish runs into my line or that everyone is honest and there for the good cause.

Because of that, I rarely fish on weekends, holidays, openers, or in any kind of ice tournament. My one local tournament on the soft water each year is more than enough.
