I’ve done this 5 years in a row. Can’t make it this year sadly. We stay up way too late drinking the night before. Sled over in the morning. Hungover and catch nothing during the tournament. Couple guys usually nap it off on the ice. I buy cheese curds. More beers. Wait for it to end. Go to Ernie’s for Greenies and spin tales. Complain that we never win. Dream of the truck or ice castle. Do the same thing next year.
i saw on the face book IDO posted that the holes were drilled today. hows that gonna work when its -15 out tonight?
Sounds fun but also sounds like you need to stick a pike in your pants. Head down..fyi

They aren’t allowed to use any augers. I believe they can bring a chisel and a scoop.

yea i know you cant bring your own auger. -15 tonight i would think they would ice over a couple inches over night
Looked like all the holes were being drilled with Strikemaster 40Vs again this year
World’s largest ice fishing tailgate party. I fished in it for close to 20 years. Now that I’m older, it’s a hard pass in this type of weather.
Well there’s your winner! Ok, it’s early, but that’ll be hard to beat.

Not yet, I’m on my way up to weigh in now!
the kid doesnt look old enough to drive……..can he still claim the truck….i really dont know???? thinkin his parents????????
I just wonder what the dude in the background uses for shampoo n conditioner!
It will be three years until he’ll be able to drive his new Ford F150.
He caught it in 55 FOW. Tungsten jig, waxie and 2 lb test line. I’m not sure that’s their first place I’d look if I wanted to catch that walleye.

EPG musta got distracted by a pulltabs sign on the way up and apparently didn’t make it on time!!
I suppose that fish will also get mounted?!

All fish must be released alive (and brought to the weigh in alive). Would have to be a replica.
Rule 2.14
All fish entered into the contest must be brought to the weigh-in station immediately and must be alive. Please bring fish to weigh-in station in a bag or bucket, as the contest is live release.
so…based on the depth in which it was caught, the outsidetemp and depending on how far away he was from the weigh in spot……….in reality what possible chance does that fish have to survive???????????
i understand rules but shees!!!!!
Meh guessing that thing was an old dog either way.
Kids story will last his lifetime and maybe then some.
It’s interesting how the bite changes from year to year. Looked like most of the top ten were walleyes. Sometimes it’s tullibees and eyes from the deep and other times it’s pike and eyes shallow. We usually fish around 45’, but don’t have much luck. Too busy drinking and watching other people catching em!

bend the rules….let the kid keep it!!!!!!11
The 13 year old took the cash option. Turns out that Zac is a nephew of a friend of mine in Hutchinson.
