Just wondering what you do with your knot ends fraying. I’ve used a lighter to melt them together , and it does prevent it from fraying but leaves a little hard bump. Is this a concern or am I showing signs of a ocd.

The last time I was on the ice fishing was about 4 years ago and my friend had a camera in the hole so we could watch the fish doing what fish do. I had a green fluorescent mono line on and was tied direct to the jig. The butt end of the line glowed a bright green like it was a battery operated light. Sunfish were having a great time nipping at that speck of bright green. It didn’t seem to bother them much as they’d dink with the end of the line than hit the jig and get caught. I can’t say that on another day the bright end might keep them at bay or not but I think for the most part you don’t have to worry is there’s some fraying or the small nub there at the jig/bait.

Thanks Tom, I was more concerned about knot failure but this must not be an issue because I’ve never heard of anyone talking about it. I’ve just always done it . I think going forward I won’t. You can see in the pictures what I’m talking about.
