Looking forward to getting the sleds out. Got one ready and the other one right behind. Going to run the 03 xc700 another year. It was mint until the missus bounced off an oak tree on the last ride last season. Patching it up. Still runs strong. Come on snow! Anybody else getting the itch?

I’m eyeing a new Apex XTX pretty hard, but having trouble pulling the trigger. I have an ’11 Skidoo that just turned 1k miles last season so I’m struggling justifying it….
November 29, 2016 at 10:48 pm #1653595I have a 2010 Yamaha NYTRO XTX 1050cc for sale if anyone’s interested.

With all the crappy winters we’ve had over the years I have kept sleds an embarrassingly long time. Just got rid of my 02 for a 15 two seasons back. With rebuildable everything its easy to keep them in prime riding condition. This year we cannot travel to ride because we wont kennel our old dog anymore. Hopefully we get snow at our cabin.
November 30, 2016 at 8:13 am #1653641I bought a 2006 Ski-doo Renegade 800X new in 07′ and it’s still going strong with zero issues and 3,500 miles (I know, low miles). Hoping to get it out a little more this season! For those who trail ride AND enjoy ice fishing, it can be a balancing act. Today I don’t want snow so we can make more ice, but tomorrow when I want to ride, I want snow!
November 30, 2016 at 8:15 am #1653642Still hanging on to my 75 Pantera for ice fishing. I cannot see investing 10 to 15K on something that might get used or you have to haul it 200 miles to use it.
I used to ride a lot back in the 70’s but with the weather we get now it’s had to justify the cost of a new sled.
November 30, 2016 at 8:51 am #1653658I grew up sledding and its one of my favorite hobbies. I will normally take it over ice fishing but I am able to balance the two. I ice fish more on low snow winters. Licensing has definitely gotten more complicated. Registering the sled is no longer enough in any mid-west state. You also have to buy trail passes now so we try to limit our riding to 2 states.

I used to ride in West Yellowstone quite a bit…The sled turns into one big sticker after having to buy Idaho, Montana and Wyoming…Not to mention the MN reg and WI trail pass…

That’s what I always worry about. I buy sleds based on their looks as well as performance and I hate turning them into “Nascar” replicas with all the stickers. I register them in Wi just to get away from requiring registration numbers spread across the hood on both sides.
November 30, 2016 at 12:21 pm #1653744I thought for sure this was going to be an MX thread….. Put the sleds back in storage and bust out the bikes and wheelers BRAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!

December 7, 2016 at 1:57 pm #1655251Will have the sled out this weekend as my niece and nephew will be at the house for our family Xmas this weekend. Just enough on the ground to keep the slides cool right now here outside Cloquet.
Wife and I have been riding since ’95. Sold our 1996 Indy Trails in 2011 and bought a pair of 2010 570 Cats (1-F570, 1-T570 for me). The two up has been really good for me, good ice fishing sled with the longtrack and when I hit the trails I take off the rear seat and it makes a fun trail sled with the 144″ track.
