Maybe if you’re from Moorhead, funny for everyone else. Sorry I grew up getting shitkicked by their dominant youth program… still bitter I guess jester

Realistically as the only northern program with a chance most years, I’m kinda forced into rooting for the Spuds now

Im not from the area, but they have had some fantastic teams for decades and like you pointed out their youth programs have often won state even at the Bantam level so the fact they cant win a title is sad. Dont get me wrong, Im not sad about it, just the nature of the situation I guess.

That’s kinda where I am now too. Especially given their opponent tonight.

The reality is that the metro teams in class AA have basically dominated the tournament so heavily now that almost no outstate team even has a realistic chance. The data does not lie.

    Lets go Spuds

Anyone know of a radio station in Grand Rapids area that a person could listen to the game?

The East Grand Forks – Hibbing game was wild. That should be a fun A championship tomorrow.

What a comeback by EGF – feel bad for Hibbing as I kind of feel they had the mojo coming in to take the whole thing. But EGF earned every bit of that win!

If my kids school isn’t in the tournament I root for the furthest team north and anyone playing Edina.

Very good game by Stillwater. Their goalie Conway is rivaling Carl Goering from back in the day.

I fell asleep after the second.

Elated to see the cake season end. Really have no horse in the final tonight but Moorhead seems like they finally might be the spud team of destiny now.

Did anyone get the license plate number of that potato truck that just ran over Stillwater?

Mason Kraft. 4 goals in the first freaking period.

Yeah the goaltending sure didn’t show up last night. Great tourney tho! When was the last time we had 2 out-state champs?

2017 AA Grand Rapids and A Hermantown. Actually that year it was an all non metro championship Saturday. Grand Rapids played Moorhead and Hermantown played Monticello-Annandale-Maple Lake (could be considered metro depending who you ask).

“He coaches at Northern Lakes (sect 6A).

To AK guy, he inherited a Team that has seen it youth program dominate District 15, for years.
The varsity team made the state tournament a few years ago. It was not a struggling team, it is a team that could be good for years to come.

Randolph is a great coach, and he certainly has his kids at Northern Lakes buying in on his style. He has done a great job.”

And now he is gone after setting the wins record.

He’s done already? Where is he going now? Back to Duluth?

I saw the article in the StarTribune this morning about Randolph leaving and or retiring. It really wasn’t clear which one. What gives?

Moorhead forward Mason Kraft has claimed the Mr Hockey Award. He scored 95 points this season, including 4 goals in the state championship game, helping the Spuds earn their first state championship in school history.

    Kraft is a Mankato recruit.

Maybe I read a different article on Randolph but it said he would take any job close to duluth or mendota heights and that he wanted to coach another 50 years. Nothing about retiring and said the record meant nothing to him. Could all be BS for I know, just regurgitating the article

No way Kraft still ends up at Mankato

    I was semi kidding.
I know he still has his place in Duluth and family down in the cities.
