Boyd's Gun Stock Question

A few years ago I ordered my son a Boyd’s thumb hole stock for his savage 111 XP left handed .270. On the Boyd’s website it says that if you have an XP synthetic model you need the following:

MUST READ: If you have a XP model with a synthetic stock, you will need to purchase the bottom metal component system through Savage or any aftermarket component supplier. Due to the many variations of trigger guards that have bed used for Savage Actions. Boyds uses a flat bottom metal design. Fitting for plastic and some metal models may be needed or contact Savage or Brownells for the flat bottom design. These stocks are designed for the 3 piece design DETACHABLE BOX MAG parts as found on wood stocks. Some plastic stocked models will require you to purchase additional parts from Savage or Brownells. Not designed for old style side magazine release.

I can’t find the parts on Brownell’s or Midway USA and it is now after business hours when I tried to call. Anyone go through this? Otherwise I’ll call tomorrow.

I maybe found a couple part #’s on a gun forum. Any other thoughts will still help though.

I wish I could help, but I am not familiar with Savage other than they kinda picked and chose what they assembled rifles with during certain bumpy times in their past. They would assemble the rifles with parts they had on hand, similar to how Chevrolet did back in the early 2000’s with certain light duty trucks. Some would have a top bolt release, some would be on the bottom, the trigger guards and magazine plates varied slightly on different models and even production dates of the same models also. I would say you’re better off calling Savage directly for an answer. I’m sure they’ve had the same questions asked in the past.

FWIW, I had a Boyds SS Evolution stock on a 10/22 and I love it. Then I sold all my guns because they’re dangerous.

    Obviously I don’t own any guns either. I’m asking for a friend…
