    Hello all,
Looking for a little advise on stand/Pop-up/chair placement. I am fortunate to have a uncle that farms quite a bit of land in south central MN. Also, he is one of the best scouting tools in my perspective as he has many farm plots spread out in many areas, and he spends a lot of time in these fields and areas. There is one spot we have been seeing a Nice 8-pointer for a couple years now, well I think he’s ready to pursue, however it is a area that is a little tight and I think some opinions might help with my pursuit on this big boy.

Here I have attached a map, as you can see there is a bedding area in about the middle of the map, to the north of this bedding area is a dense woods and a very steep hill that goes down to a corn field, we have seen him at the bottom of this hill a couple times feeding. I think… that he also feeds to the south in the corn, but not certain. I need to find a spot to either put a stand, or I was thinking no stand at all, but maybe a little portable chair with some good cover around me. the road I can come in from is to the west… And usually in this area the wind is west-east/southeast. SO my thoughts are to swing way wide and come up the back of the property line on the south east tip (to the right of the bedding area) hoping he feeds to the south corn field, or another option I see is come along the North corn field line and set up shop on the tree line at the bottom of the hill where the corn the the forest meet?

Sure would like to hear any other ideas from some of you more experienced bow hunters out there!
    Thanks
    Alex

To me from the map. I think that the more edges you can have in your immediate area the better. Edges act as funnels. So I try to use field edges, creeks, timberlines, gates, and property boundaries to funnel deer towards my stand. If your bow hunting I would advise against sitting on a chair on the ground. Its hard enough to get drawn and shoot a mature buck 20ft. in the air, on the ground would be stacking the deck against yourself IMO. To me if you placed a stand on the South west point of the timber facing west. You might be able to see almost all around you. And when the NW winds come ushering in the cold fronts, that will have him up on his feet and you can sneak into the area downwind of the bedding. Deer use CRP around me as a safety travel zone. Corn meets CRP meets Timber should be good =dynamite. Put a decoy out on the corner and call him over and kill him.

    Good luck.
