Anybody running a DI trans at the bow. I have a 1198si unit tagged into a us2 trolling motor I was going to put the DI trans on the trolling motor but I guess it will not work with my SI unit according to conv with HB. Would it be benificial to put on the 180si trans on motor to get more accurate returns for my bow 1198 unit I am looking for acurrate down imaging at bow thanks for input

Mann4ducks I run an 858 DI unit on the bow. It is awesome with DI transducer. The clarity of the DI images versus the 898 SI on console are night and day. I seem to recall someone explaining that the SI units combine images from both sides of the SI to make the DI image where as the DI units have a dedicated DI crystal.

There is no reason you could not use your SI transducer on the trolling motor but people have said sometimes when turning the motor the image gets a little blurry. The one thing that was very helpful was running the transducer cord in the slot on the trolling motor shaft. Here is a link to a video on how to do that.

thanks for confirming the DI imaging is better at the bow, a guy at Kentucky lake told to switch out the trans. but I found out that I would have to get a new unit as the SI wont or is not rec. by HB for that. I run a fortex on the front so the slot is not appli. maybe I will put my 1198SI on another boat and buy a 1999 DI unit. are those also on sale at the 1200. $ mark?
