That’s because this is a bourbon thread. We can always make an Irish Whiskey thread too.
Pretty fun seeing this guy at a local watering hole. Had to give it a try as I’ll never find one to bring home. I don’t have a lot of experience with high proof pours. But it drank like it was no where near actual proof. Definitely had some of those familiar buffalo trace flavors that I really enjoy.
Nice find Jake! I had a nice little score today. Found one of my favorites for almost $15 off. Good old Costco!
That Double Oak is excellent!! Except the price.
That’s why I liked seeing it at $40!
Which Costco?
Maplewood
They also had a gift pack of the Makers Mark Private Selection for $67. 3 smaller sized bottles one 2019, one 2020, and one 2021. Was reaching for that too but the wife yanked me out by the ear.
Stumbled across this today for msrp!
Now that is a find! I’m down to my last bottle so I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled too.

Same here it is hard not cracking that last one while waiting on a replacement.
Matho thanks on the Costco heads up a coworkers wife works there and is grabbing me a bottle of the Double Oaked

I tried that a few weeks ago at the Lumberyard in Afton. $20 a shot.
It was very good but man, that’s over twice the price I pay for anything else I drink.

You are right Brian. It’s one of my favorite Bourbons, but it’s low proof, and not that complex, so it’s really good at MSRP but at the prices some charge for it, it’s not worth it.
I was down visiting Iowaboy1 this past weekend and I scored on these.
I got a bottle in Duluth this weekend. The Rathskellar also had it so had a few nice manhattan’s with it. But I still won’t buy it if it’s over MSRP.
we had a good time golfing and doing some bourbon tourism in Louisville.

Just come to North branch. Both liquor stores have multiple buffalo traces all the time. I enjoy those. They are a dollar more though lol
The gas money alone would put it higher than it should be…..
Next time I come up that way to fish I’ll swing by some stores and pick some up.
My son and father-in-law got their first taste of turkey hunting this morning.
Celebrating tonight!
For whatever reason, Brewlze was recommended as a YouTube channel for me. I took a look and now I’ll be damned if I’m not wanting to stop at random liquor stores and look for rare bourbon deals. LOL

Had some Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey (Connor McGregor’s brand) this weekend and that was plenty drinkable!

I thought the exact opposite. I love Irish whiskey but proper 12 was one I won’t be buying again
If you can find it Werm grab The Whistler, double oaked, it’s absolutely phenomenal. Literally puts a smile on my lips every sip.
Edit: haven’t found an Irish that I couldn’t drink but I agree w bear, proper is low on my list. But I can see why a traditional whiskey guy would enjoy it. To each their own
Happened upon a good deal for a Springbank 10 yr Single Malt. Maybe my palette was made for Famous Grouse but I was just not blown away by it. Can’t wait to encourage everyone to drink the rest of it this weekend.
Anyone try Elmer T Lee single barrel?
A buddy got a bottle, I have not had a chance to try it. He likes it but wasn’t amazed by it.
Edit: Sorry it was EH Taylor I was thinking of.
