I just received an email advert from South Lyndale Liquor, 53rd and Lyndale in South Minneapolis, that they are hosting an Angel’s Envy Rye whiskey tasting this evening from 5:00 to 7:00. Also doing bottle engraving.

Went to brick and bourbon, had my first whiskey sour ever, hot dam that was delicious. They pour it with Jack.

Gonna definitely be on my drink list from here on.

Yeah they are good. Still haven’t been there yet. Wife and I might go to the Stillwater one this weekend.

Looking for a place to check out?

Tattersall’s in River Falls just opened Dec 1st. Decent food (I’ve only been there once).

At the gift shop bar, instead of ordering a flight to taste test, ask for their samples. It’s just a taste of their numerous spirts at no charge. They have bottled Old Fashions, Manhattans, and Bloody Mary’s. I liked the original vodka (made from corn).

If your looking for Tito’s to compare it with, you’ll be out of luck…they only carry the Tattersall brands. Once they get the production line going, guests will be able to see everything though glass windows.

This weekend might be out of the picture as well. Normally they are booked on the weekends a week in advance.

I feel like I should not mention it as it is already spotty to find it, but this one is pretty good. For some reason it won’t let me delete the picture of Blantons

I enjoy good bourbon, the best I tasted recently was Cutwater Devil’s Share Bourbon. A tad pricey, $115/bottle. I’ve been messing around with lower cost bourbons, really enjoyed Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. Price was great, under $25.

Allocations have always screwed us over in this state.

It’s funny how different distribution is from state-to-state and even different areas of the same state even for ordinary stuff. Some that sit on the shelf here by me are never seen when I stop in MN. Same thing the other way around, I love stopping whenever I’m someplace new as there will be something on the shelf 6 bottles deep that I can’t ever get.

I’m on the hunt right now for some Woodinville Rye from Washington state. They use barrels from the Black Swan cooperage in Park Rapids.
