It’s crazy what you can pull with one finger.

Don’t tempt me with a good time jester

Seriously though I’d just be worried about the smitty on a portage

It’s “Don’t threaten me with a good time” mrgreen

As I said earlier, if the portage it too rough, the smitty will ride in the sled instead of under it. The portage is a small percentage of the hike in toast

Also, now it sounds like we’ll probably camp closer to 3 miles in and hike during the day a couple/few miles for fishing.

    Can’t wait! Pics to come!

Thanks for all of the advice guys

Your food list looks to be a bit on the light side. What you listed didn’t seem to have a very high calorie count.

Also, how thick is your foam pad? Sleeping on the ground is going to rob heat and your 0° bag has no loft underneath you. Depending on the snow cushion it will also be hard as a rock. I believe the recommended sleeping pad R value for winter camping is in the 6+ range.

It’s pretty easy to get a bit dehydrated while winter camping. Alcohol will add to it. I noticed I would sleep colder when not properly hydrated.

B-man wasn’t looking to rob your honey hole just curious as to the area overall. As a BWCA-junkie I’m interested is all and maybe can offer some tips if it’s an area I’ve been. Lemme know if you ever have BWCA/camping/winter camping questions and I’m happy to help. toast Have fun and I hope you catch fish!

Well we ended up having a blast!

The weather was good, the company was good, the fishing was good, and the food was great.

My buddy ended up getting a backpacking 10×15 canvas tent and wood stove lol

I pulled it out in the smitty sled along with all of my gear. It was some extra added work but worth it. I spent two nights out there and the other three guys are spending tonight too.

We walked in the dark to the site on Friday night. It was a long hard walk with all of the gear and lake conditions, but an experience I won’t forget anytime soon.

It was a three mile hike to the campsite, then we fished another 1.5 miles from camp.

    Here’s some pics grin
