    I love the looks of these awesome creatures !!!!
    In my book they are one of the…if not the most beautiful fish in the system !!!
    I only brought home 3 of them because they are as tasty as they are beautiful !!

    I agree. One of the few fish I’d like to catch a true monster of and have mounted. Also by far the best eating fish out there in my opinion

    I use fingerling gills for bait. Trap in overrun pond. Crappie and perch bite on them readily. Also big gills. Legal in Ohio don’t know bout other
    states.

    Those aren’t small gills they’re actually a species of sunfish. We have a couple sloughs packed with them. They spawn often and will provide a great stable food source for game fish. So far I think they’re a better food source than fresh water shrimp as they’re a bigger food source.

    Awesome pics. Early ice here in Michigan, perch are packed full of dime size gills. The canals of Lake St. Clair are chock full of them…provides some decent fishing before the main lake freezes.
