So my son and I are doing our annual icw fishing trip back to Minnesota. We moved to oklahoma 6 years ago (
Normally we hit bigger lakes but this time we’re planning on fishing some smaller north metro lakes. I’ve had some luck on Bone before but haven’t fished it in a few years.
Anybody have and advice or pointers on ice conditions or maybe a lake that is producing? I’m not asking for secret spots just maybe general info. We are pretty familiar with a lot of North metro lakes but it was much easier to pattern areas when being on the ice 3-4 days a week.

I only fished it one time this year for a few hours when it was windy and -6 F. I walked the sled when it was only 10 inches of ice. So there are no secret spots on this lake. It’s obvious on the map.

The big hole in middle of lake, to the left or right of it from launch, for panfish. Obviously the point on the left, for chance at a stocked walleye. The area right in front of the launch about 200 yards?, well a little bit to left or right, just to stay out of direct road path to the deep hole, for panfish.

I will say, there was like nobody fishing. Pretty quiet all to yourself, maybe one or two other fishermen on it. Drill lots of holes and search. The fish wasn’t really biting that day.

Yeah quiet and not a lot of traffic will work for me. You’re right as far as obvious spots and where most people fish the lake.
The lake has a good amount of weeds and I’ll be trying to find some green weeds close to the basin.
Probably going to Pokegama or knife on Saturday but on Friday I’ll be drilling holes and running around on Bone.

Trolled the whole lake once this summer for crappie and couldn’t find any quality. All small 8-10″.
