The center panel in my walk through windshield cracked while I was towing the boat.
It is a Lund Impact 1675 sport.
The curved part of the glass label is
    Taylor Made
    tempered safety glass windshield
    AS2 DOT-61

    The center piece is flat.
Looks to be 22 1/2 inches and square
I have the frame out of the boat.
What is the best way to get a replacement for that panel.

    Cracked or spidered?

If just cracked maybe one of the windshield places can do it. If it needs to be replaced I think you are screwed. Seems Taylor has the market locked up pretty tight.

    spidered.
I thought it was moisture wicking from the windshield as it disintegrated as I was towing the boat.
So do I contact Taylor or Lund to get another?

Work through a Lund dealer. Prepare for sticker shock. May even be worthy of an insurance claim in my experience with Alumacraft.

Center panels are easy. Take to automotive glass shop and they will cut you a new piece.

Is there an automotive glass place near Lakeville that actually will cut the glass.
Will there be any issues with using laminate glass as opposed to tempered glass?

This. I took out one of the curved Taylor Made pieces years ago and it sucked.
I doubt I could even find a new one now for my 1998 Lund.

Broke the center out of 99 sportfish last year. Call auto glass place that does windshields. They told me it would be about $170. Shopped around, took it to the local glass/paint store, tempered, whole deal, $27 and looked perfect. Auto glass place was trying to take me to the cleaners.

My buddy and I just recently replaced the curved section on his Lund but that is a whole different story. An outfit in Florida makes the replacement curved sections. You send them the frame and they send it back to you with the glass.

On the center panel, I believe we drove the center pin of the hinge out. You could then carry the whole frame and glass to the auto glass shop.

Be ghetto, Just cut a 1/2″ ply wood and cut a little hole in the center.

On the cheap, I had another friend that replaced his center panel with plexiglass.

Found this informative web site on the differences in glass.

    Tempered Glass vs. Laminated Glass

    Tempered glass
heat treated glass after cutting to size
    Laminated glass
Laminated glass is created by bonding multiple layers of glass together
while under pressure and heat, with a resin called polyvinyl butyral
    (PVB.)
    Laminated tempered glass
combination of laminated and tempered glass is certainly possible but
    very difficult.

    Cost
the laminated glass typically costs 3 – 4 times as much
This probably explains the price differences posters are experiencing at
    auto glass shops.

I have fixed several of those. I work in a glass shop. Cut laminated glass for them and they work just fine. Laminated glass is not that expensive. $12.00 sq ft.
I have seen a lot of them that appear to be square but they aren’t . Better save the old piece of glass or put it back in place and check for square. A local glass shop should be able to fix it for you.
You do not want tempered glass. Laminated or Plexiglas

    Mike,
I no longer have any glass to measure or put back.
It broke into many little pieces which leads me to believe it was in fact tempered glass.
It did not appear to have any layer that I would think was the pvb layer.

When the curved section of my buddy’s windshield broke it look like a bag of rock salt on the floor of the boat. I think he is still finding little pieces a year later. I still think that they can cut you a piece with the frame in tact.

Take it to a glass shop, we have 3 in my little town of 20k people. They fix windows all of the time. I did this last year on my Ranger and it was $33 to fix. If it were one of the 2 outside pieces you would be looking at $2000-3000.
