Boat Trailer Tires?

I blew one of my trailer tires out on the last trip of the fall, and put the boat in storage on the spare (which was the same as the blown tire). Any recommendations on what I should do for replacement? Any places in the SW Metro you’d recommend?

It used to be that the Goodyear Marathons set the standard for quality which has now changed. Last summer I put on a set of Maxxis M8008. So far so good.

Also, Discount Tire has fantastic service. Because I was a customer for the Maxxis tires, they repaired a flat tire on my truck last week at no charge. I will look to them for new truck tires when the time comes.

Sam’s Club can order many national brands and usually they are in within 2-3 days. Their prices are good and even better they don’t rip you off by charging $30-$50 per tire in mounting and related fees.

I’ve ran a few different brands over the years and keep coming back to Les Schwab Tow Max tires. I make 2,000 mile round trip hauls to Wyoming every summer and these have never let me down.

$30-$50 to mount a tire in the Twin Cities ? We are at $15 here in St Cloud… that’s including Mounting, new rubber stem if needed, disposal and balance.

They’ll fix a flat free for anyone (at least my local store will). I would imagine that they recoup that easily when the time comes around for new tires. It worked on me–I’ve bought 4 sets from them. whistling

2X. Did my research after a GY marathon blew on my WX2100. Replaced all 4 with the Maxxis from Discount Tire. The Maxxis had the best rep out there. There’s a lot of crappy trailer tires. Some of the RV’ers would take their new trailer and replace the tires with the Maxxis before the first trip. A blowout on a RV trailer can damage a lot of stuff when chunks start flying$$.

I’ve been running Loadstar and/or Towmax tires on all my boat trailers for over 10 years and have NEVER had any issues/problems with them at all. These rigs aren’t just used occasionally, either. They are on the road 5 – 7 days a week, pretty much year round. Look them up on the TRAILER PARTS SUPERSTORE website. That’s who I’ve always got them from. Just suggestions and other options.

I sell Towmax. Never got one back as defective. Can’t say the same for Marathons.

Yes, I have been quoted everything from the high $20 range to over $45 PER TIRE for mounting when you include all the add-on fees.

Sam’s Club is $15 all in and that includes a road hazard coverage that has saved me from buying 2 new tires over the years.
