A couple of the hinges on my folding boat seats have buckled…they just don’t stand up to 230 lbs of tired fisherman leaning back for a snooze.
My boat’s a Lund, but they are the standard folding (no-pinch hinges) fishing seats that I see on a lot of other brands too. The hinges are fabricated from aluminum (that’s the problem). A few years back, I remember seeing (somewhere on the internet) some after-market replacement hinges that were made from stainless steel…obviously I wasn’t the first one with this issue. I also remember seeing after-market hinges that were ratcheting…adjustable for a number of different reclining angles (just like in a car). I now can’t seem to locate anything but the standard aluminum ones. The seats themselves are in great shape, so I’m not quite ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Any suggestions or solutions ?
