I have 2003 Lund 1700 Fisherman(original owner)that the carpeting is getting rough. I know allot of guys have redone their boats themselfs, but has anyone in the twin cities paid to have this done? Any shop recommendations? I know of Georges Boatworld in Bethel. Thanks!

I had a 2004 Lund Explorer re-carpeted by Georges a couple years back. The carpet was tore up on most horizontal surfaces and the floor and transom had some rot. Cost $6k for the whole job, but compared to the price of new boats I thought this seemed OK. Their first quote was higher, I negotiated that price down a bit.

do you have pictures you could share?

Is the carpet disintegrating and falling apart or is it mold/environmental build up?

No pics right now. The floor is solid, no mold or other issues I can see. Just normal wear on flat surfaces, vertical areas are fine.

I replaced my (main) floor and carpet in my 96 Lund Pro V last winter. I didn’t replace the casting deck yet. My main floor had some major rot. I did it myself. It was a fair amount of work. I probably spent about 400.00 on the marine grade plywood, sealer, carpet, stainless screws, adhesive. I worked on mine over 4 – 5 weekends. It did cost me an extra 200.00 to repair the gas line I drilled through. -(

Do you really want carpet? I’ve pulled mine out of my boat because all it does is hold moisture and dirt.

If you really want carpet, I’d suggest making it removable if you can.

Have done a few boat restoration projects and it’s a time sucker. It’s not terribly difficult, just tedious and time consuming. Could never stomach the cost to pay somebody else to do it, but I’m cheap.

Try Anchor Marine in Delano. Their prices seem to be fair/reasonable at least for body work stuff.

I have a 1600 pro sport Anchor Marine wanted 6 grand to do the floor and carpet
in it. My son and I replaced it our self over 3 week ends. now it is ready for next year.
