    do you need a long shaft motor on a 14ft alumacraft boat I have a short shaft and it does not push the boat worth a dam

    You need to measure how tall the rear of your boat is. From bottom to the top of the transom. If around 15 inches short will work. If 17 inch or more you need a long shaft.
