I’m looking at boat lifts, and currently have a Lund impact 1875. Just wondering if anyone had advice on what width they recommend for a lift. The lift I am currently looking at is 108” wide, my boat is 96” wide to me it seems that might get a little tight on a windy day trying to drive in to the lift. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Doesn’t the lift have side rails or bump posts to help guide you into the lift? Or is that what you are saying is 108 inches wide? If so, I think you would want them fairly tight to your boat so the boat is centered on the lift.

its a vertical bunk lift, not much to guide it in. nothing to protect the boat from hitting the outside posts (frame of the lift)

My Floe lifts have bump post as the previous poster mentioned, they are an option and help guide the boat in. Also remember your boat is not 96” wide at the bow, as long as you get the bow between the bunks they should engage the hull and guide you into the lift.

I’ve owned 5 different brands of boat lifts and i’ve settled on Floe and will never own anything else. Their ability to keep the wheels on the lift all summer and the screwjack legs is so nice come time to pull it out in the fall.

I also have the boat guide accessories and they are really nice docking in the wind.

    Go with a Floe!!

The lift I am currently looking at is 108” wide,

Can you share what lift this is? That way we can see other specs like capacity.

I’m not devoted to any brand but will say this. Last year we replaced our runabout sort of the wrong way. Bought a new lift 4 years ago. Due to the rising costs of lifts we could only shop for boats under our lift’s current capacity. If you’re going through the headache of lift replacement, think about if you upgrade to that 20′ boat in 5 years. It will be heavier and about 100″ beam.

I googled those floe guide ons, they look awesome!!! We have a Max Dock. They have options but not as nice as those.

This is a good point and typically upgrading to the next weight capacity is pretty trivial in regards to the total cost. I went with the 5,000 lbs lift capacity even though the 3,800 was likely more than enough, I think it was like $250 more. I also didn’t want to be even close to the total weight limit thinking it would be less stress on everything.

I would go with the wider lift. I was in this same spot a couple years ago. I went with the 120″ wide lift. I bought it with the horizontal guide ons. These would not of fit on the 108″ lift. The wider lift was very little more in cost. I bought a shore station lift and I think it is great. Highly recommend the DC winch with wireless remote as well.

Shore master if you what the best . 10 years warranty on cable system. IMO , floe lifts will eventually have problems do to the play in the lift

I had a floe lift before the one I have now. It was starting to fall apart. Floe didn’t make parts anymore for it and I didn’t want to bandaid it. Their docks aren’t that great either, specifically the screw leg assembly. I won’t buy a floe product again.

thanks for all the input, it is much appreciated.

We ended up with a shore master 108″ wide with 24’canopy and eclectic vertical lift. I would have preferred to go wider, but stuck with what I could afford.
