Hey guy maybe some one can shed some light on boat insurance for me. I want to get my boat some insurance and I called GEICO today to do so. I have a title. Here’s my problem my title only has a boat manufacturer of Lund. No year, or model. They said the boat hull id number came up as a homemade boat. I know my boat isn’t worth a ton of money but its kinda the peace of mind I want when I’m on the water. Any ideas on this?. Or how I can fix it. I’ve added a few pics.

They should be able to do a VIN/ID Override if you can send them a copy of the title. Otherwise I have had to engrave an ID # on a homemade fish house previously, for this purpose. This is one example (of many) where working with a local agent can make your life a lot easier! ;-)

It has a HIN that was put on it by the DNR in 1990. That lables It as a homemade boat. So it has a HIN just not one that came with it from the maker. It has me stumped. Makes me think it was before they put the numbers on them. Just not sure.

How old is it? I’ve got a canoe from the mid-60s that has a HIN on it!

IDO member Justin Schneider (Woods & Water Insurance) @Chowdski is a good place to start. He checks in every now and then.
