The FW and I have been nosing around for a new float and I wanted to see what the new boat insurance would run. As far as I knew it could be a couple K’s per year.

I checked with State Farm where I have multiple vehicles and home owners insurance. Since this boat wouldn’t be used for guiding, I don’t need to worry about commercial insurance and that put State Farm back in the picture.

Then I checked with Justin at Woods and Waters. Same boat, same deductibles…everything.
    $50. less per year.

Spring is coming, might want to save a few bucks by checking his prices out. Buy you Favorite Significant Other something for Valentines Day with the savings.

I had the same issue last spring when I bought my new ride. Bob at Worldwide Marine Insurance got me a lot better plan for half the price of my current insurance agent. He specializes in insurance for boats. http://worldwidemarineins.com/

Oh no, no… I just used that for pricing reasons. There are three boats on the FW’s radar.

‘suppose this rules out the tag along… (

Nah you can still tag along, as long as you bring that spiffy underwater camera along with you!

But since you seem to be headed in the direction of a die hard walleye fisherman, I highly suggest a boat equipped with a react keel )

I have progressive on a 99 Lund and pay around $150 a year with no deductible. I’m wondering how this compares to everyone else? I think it’s a good price, but not sure?

What does that $150. cover? Replacement? Medical? Theft of gear in and out of your boat? Hard to tell without the full story.

$150. was what I was paying State Farm prior to the commercial insurance I needed once I started guiding 10 or so years ago. I don’t recall that that covered though.

I have replacement coverage on my boat from progressive. Towing, medical, etc. 250 decreasing collision deductible, 100 comprehensive deductible. $5000 tackle coverage. Cost is $220. Had a claim last year cost me 100 bucks.

Looks like I have $5000 in fishing equipment coverage. Seems like a good price I’m paying. I will probably never have a claim….. don’t use it much!
