We want to camp towards Halloween weekend does anyone have any locations where we could boat into? Preferably within 3 hours of the metro.
Islands or anywhere. We want to tent camp and have the ability to fish to but be away from people if possible. Thank you for your recommendations.

St. Croix River above the dam in Taylors Falls. Camp sites are along the river and on islands.

There are a few islands you can camp on in vermilion. First come first serve and just rustic camps.

I created a post about fishing oriented campgrounds a whole ago. Search campgrounds and it will probably pop up

Years ago I ran my 135 there every weekend. You aren’t going to run wide open anyway. I wouldn’t worry to much about it. You will know when you hit the shallow sections no matter what size motor you are running.

My vote will be st croix for closer to home. Lots of days I see no one else out there. Or going up north I’d go to Vermilion, Kab, namakan, or crane.

it’s a bit further away (4 hours from metro), but there are some wonderful boat access sites in northeast Wisconsin. beautiful, quiet, and great fishing.

    Northern Highland State Forest Link

we spent a nice 4-day weekend on Allequash Lake in July – zero development and only 3 camping sites on the whole lake.

Hinsdale Island on Vermillion is pretty awesome, especially that time of year!
