I’m having Grumpys boat covers, make me a boat cover. I’m undecided if I should have him go over the trolling motor or should I just remove it every time?

Any in put on what you guys did think would be great!

my dad has a cover for his that snaps on at the ‘back’ end of the bow plate so he can leave his on. Slightly different than what it sounds like you are planning, my only real issue with his is that he cannot use the stabilizing Ram (unless he gets the cover modified). That would bother me a lot watching the head wobble around the whole trip (terrova).

My cover will not fit without taking the motor off. So I put it on a quick release plate and I have a pie e of foam I put over the base just so it doesn’t try and tear at the cover. Having to take it off doesn’t really bother me, but the boat is always indoors when not in use, so the cover only really goes one for a couple longer trips during season and then at the end of the year when it gets stored at a friend’s shed for the winter. I would say I think having the tm off helps snug the cover tighter.

If you happen to be keeping score, my Terrova is also on a quick slide and I travel longer trips w it dismounted as well.

For the record you can have a Velcro slot put in your cover to go around a Ram ball to support the head of your Minnkota. I’ve had covers that went around the trolling motor and those that went over. It really makes no difference unless you overnight a lot, then covering it makes it less of a temptation to a thief.

Your money, spend it how you wish.

Here is a few pictures of mine. It goes across the back end of the bow plate so that it can stay on. Also has locking snaps across there to prevent an accidental blow off. I also has a Velcro piece that allows the cover to go around the RAM trolling motor stabilizer. I still have the minnkota on a quick release mount just in case I want to take it off but haven’t had the need yet.
