New to IDO but recently our minnkota charger in our 2013 wx went out. What is a good battery charger that will last? Don’t want to go down the minnkota route if there are other options available as I know other people with minnKota chargers who have been replacing them every couple years.

The Minn Kotas have 3 year warranties, so you could try and get a replacement.

I only use Guest. I have 3 boats with on-board Guest chargers and they always work. The oldest is 16+ years old.

Dual Pro makes an excellent charger…at least they used to. I had one on my previous boat. I have no idea how old it was as it was installed when I bought the boat, but it never gave me an ounce of trouble.

I’ve had minnkota in my last two boats and never an ounce of trouble. Had a dual pro in the prior boat and didn’t have any issues. Have not owned a Guest, but they have a good reputation.

I would contact minnkota and see if they would help you out if its only 3 years old. Should be under warranty, and if not, maybe close enough that they would replace it or give you a discount.

I would try to escalate with the Customer service/ Warranty of M/K. I’ve had a couple friends that had them burn out, and their Customer Service took very good care of them.

Personally, I have ran Guest in my boats since 1990. In that time, I had a bank go out in one that was about 15 years old. Replaced that with another Guest and they are all going strong.

If the dealer you bought the boat from isn’t willing to help call minn kota directly. You will need to have the serial number of the charger which unfortunately is on the bottom of the charger. Also have the purchase date of the boat available.

If it is like any other time I have dealt with minn kota they are more than willing to help you out.

    Minn Kota number- 800-227-6433

If all that fails, let me know and I will see what I can do from my end!!!

That’s part of the problem the boat was purchased at Grandpa Joe’s who are now out. I have contacted minn Kota. Thanks

This was an install that I did this last Fall.

I also mounted a receptacle so that I could plug in without crawling in and out of the boat every time.
