Yes I’m sure this has been beaten to death…..looking to recarpet my boat 16ft. To the guys that have done it before any suggestions on carpet (I’ve seen cabelas has some) and glue options? How much extra should I order? Any tips would be great. Thanks guys

I have remodeled a few boats and always just get mine at Menards. They have a few different styles and colors so choose what you like. It’s all pretty cheap.

I glue mine down with Super 77 3M Spray adhesive. Just be careful on the carpet and don’t oversaturate it or it will bleed through. A couple light coats on the backing and a single medium coat on the subfloor works well.

My biggest tip is to glue the main area first, then cut and trim the edges and wraps and glue those afterward.

Also research how to wrap and cut the corners properly, it will make install much easier. I don’t have the time right now to find the YouTube videos I’ve seen but there are a few out there. If I remember and have time later I will try and post them.

If you want to look at in person, we got ours from Hallberg Marine in Wyoming. Also got the adhesive there, new marine plywood, and rivets. This was a few years ago so you might want to call if they still carry it. They had several colors of carpet to choose from.

just be careful when removing the old carpet being sure not to destroy it . You can use it as a pattern for the new stuff

Hallberg still has carpet. Couple blues, couple reds, couple Grey’s, etc. $13LF on 8′ rolls.

They also sell glue. It can be rolled on with paint roller.

    Carpet is 16oz

It took a lot longer than I anticipated.

Oh how true that is. Did this a couple winters ago and the advice above is good.
