Bluetooth Amplifier

We have a 3-season porch that has some decent Boston Acoustics outdoor speakers in it. I’ve just been powering them with a cheap amplifier that plugs into a phone jack to stream music. The positives are that it’s small and it works, but I’d like to upgrade to, 1) get Bluetooth compatibility so that I don’t have to plug in anymore, and 2) get a bit more power to those speakers.

I don’t want to spend $700, but I want something better than the $40 option I have. Does anyone have any experience and/or suggested options?

This is what I have now.

You could probably find a more powerful bluetooth integrated amp, but you might want to look at something like chromecast or another wifi device, they have much better fidelity than bluetooth.

I just bought a refurbished Yamaha receiver w/ Bluetooth. A little bigger size-wise than I was hoping, but it should do the trick. May look into Chromecast at some point, but we’ll see how it performs with Bluetooth.

Now, we need some spring weather so I can enjoy our porch. )

Wifi would have been better than bluetooth, higher power levels and some can use 5GHz rather than just 2.4GHz like Bluetooth. Too many things that run on 2.4GHz that can cause interference with Bluetooth, like cordless landline phones, microwave ovens, and whatever else

I had that. It died. Was amazing for $20. The lepai is maybe 8 watts per channel before distortion kicks in.

These are a bigger-nicer. Need power supply. https://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Power-Digital-Amplifier-TDA7498-D-Dual-Channel-9-5-6-4cm-4-8-Ohms-Fashion/173034861819?hash=item2849ae74fb:g:SOUAAOSw-xVaND87

There are bluetooth versions like this that also need power supply. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bluetooth-4-1-TDA7498-2-Channel-2X100W-Digital-Power-Amplifier-Module-DC12-24V/202519007937?epid=21026539356&hash=item2f2712d2c1:g:s2YAAOSwHAxb~6uB

You can buy them complete in boxes but the price goes up a lot. How loud it gets depends upon speaker efficiency too.

I have a JL 700 Bluetooth in the camper. People will know I’m coming.
