Holy Hanna! Went from 0 to 60 in one minute, but I’m prepared. Got everything off the driveways parked the trailers on the grass in the front yard, new strap on the ATV plow, batteries charged, gassed up, shovels by the front door, 35 gallons of calcium chloride. Going to try and sleep in until 6am, but I’m sure I’ll be up a bit earlier.

    BRING IT ON!

    Lol Pug!!

Just starting to snow here and the wind sure picked up in a hurry! My shovels are ready and Dad gave me a run down of Snowblowers 101 yesterday. Aside from planning to wake up an hour earlier, I think I’m all set!

I don’t think Pug should even be allowed in this thread…… roll

Wait til Hurricane season. I love the snow and all that comes with it. The biggest shock for me this morning was my township actually plowed the roads! Time to fire up the sleds!!

We’re at 36 degrees here yet. Really wet snow, maybe 5″. I see I have a larger limb from the white pine down.

The weather map shows this sucker stalled right now. We’re currently in a dry slot but the wrap-around could nail us again. I think I’ll go get the crap we have off and if we get some more it’ll be easier to take that off when it gets here. I do our place along with three others that adjoin ours so removing a moderate amount of snow twice is way easier than fighting a super pile.

Wind is steady 25 mph from NNW. I wonder what the countryside looks like? Hard to imagine this wet crap drifting.

Probably 6″ on the ground as of now and still snowing and blowing here near Duluth. Kiboshed my plan of heading up to Red today. The SXS is full of gas and sitting in the garage waiting to do it’s plowing duties for the first time this year. This pic is from yesterday when I did a dry run setting up the fish house because it was supposed to be ready to do it’s first fishing duties of the season today! Best laid plans and all…. sad

I cleared between 4 and 5 inches of wet stuff. The wind is at a steady 33mph right now with higher gusts. The temp has fallen to 29 degrees so the wind will dry what’s on top and blow it all over. When those gusts hit the snow comes off the neighbor’s house and a guy can’t see a thing. Same for the street.

What kinds of snow totals are being seen north of here in Rottenchester?

We have 7 inches here in St Paul. Wet heavy stuff ! The kind that turns into cement when you walk or drive on it.

    She’s a blizzard 20 miles north!
Guessing we have 6-7″ and the wind is cranking out in the country.
    Still coming down too.
With all the rain coming this weekend, should be interesting what kind of slop we have to hunt in for the MZ season.
I’m going to be liking the box blinds and being dry. Probably get soaked walking to them though.

I’m with you EPG, bring it on! Our snowblower (me) has a few miles on it, but still fired up this morning and didn’t even need any coffee until the driveway was clear! End of the driveway was pretty heavy, but got it all cleared and good to go. Much better than my parents car, they got into town last night and accidentally left the passenger window open, it was like a snow globe in there doah lol

I’ve seen your snow blower so I’d guess you’ll have a clear path to those elevated huts with heaters. I’ll bet you need a cooler to keep the beer cold and you’re probably in short sleeves to boot.

At any rate….good luck this muzzy season bud! And you and Dawn have a great Thanksgiving!

    Thanks Tom!
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Carol !!

We’ll have to get together so I can pick your brain about sausage making.
Did you save me a sip of that smooth Apple stuff? Never did get to the orchard this year.

Won’t be much else to do pretty quick with all this white stuff on the ground!

I got the diesel tractor all ready and plugged in, put the blade on the wheeler set my alarm for 1 hour earlier. Woke up to maybe 3″ of snow and went back to bed for an hour, then hopped in the truck and off to work.

Lol Dad gave me a great 101 of snowblowers, and reminders to take it slow… and I still ended up with a jammed chute early Wed morning! I was so disappointed in myself. But come to find out, several guys on the block got jammed up too. This snowfall was just so wet and sticky that a jam was hard to avoid. It wasn’t the greatest snowfall for my fist time with the snowblower, but I’m sure I’ll get another chance here soon.

The snowfall here in Shell Rock was so wet, the proper term for it was rain. It all ran out the drive and down the gutter. grin

Well, round two with my snowblower went MUCH better! I was able to do the whole driveway today with no jam ups! The snow is still wet and sticky, but we didn’t get as much this time so it made it easier to start getting familar with Mr. Toro.

That Mr.Toro fella is a great one to have around. He’s a real lifesaver at times.

    Sharon,
The wet & heavy is one end of the spectrum. Wait until you get to experience the light & fluffy when it’s windy. That one is always a treat.

Sharon, start sticking $1.50 a day into a coffee can. Next winter hire a “guy” to handle the snow. grin It’s doubtful you can find a neighborhood kid these days that would shovel. Maybe you provide the snowblower and they provide the muscle? If snow wasn’t so pretty I don’t know what redeeming value it would have. grin

I hit the bed last night with light rain/snow coming down and 32 degrees. This morning I have about an inch of something on the sidewalks and drives I clear and 33 degrees. Gotta take the trash containers up to the curb so I suppose I should go out and start the inevitable scratching. I’d enjoy snow more if it came about once every two weeks and about an inch at a time. Honestly I’d like to see it warm to 40 and just rain.
