Blaze Pink?

“Wisconsin lawmakers have formally introduced a bill that would legalize blaze pink for hunters.”

I have mixed feelings about this. Not all women like pink. Personally, I like orange. I’d rather they focus on making more clothing that actually fits women – especially length-wise and in the chest area. Why does it have to be pink? SMH.

It would allow hunters to choose either blaze orange or blaze pink. I just think the idea is silly. It implies women should like pink and it ends up singling us out when were out in the field. I’m not a woman when I’m out there… I’m a HUNTER! Gender plays no role. Well, until nature calls, then that’s when men have the advantage. moon

Agreed. I suppose its fine for those handful of people that want it but I would hate to see woman only wearing pink. Sounds ridiculous.

I completely agree. I, for one, would like to see Suzuki out there in the woods wearing pink. Along with those leather boots with the extra high heel.

I don’t know. If it gets some girls (or boys) interested in hunting, I guess that’s good, but it’s a sad commentary on our society if the ability to wear pink over orange would influence a person’s decision to hunt. I guess it’s really not a big deal for me, either way.

Exactly. I understand that the goal is to get more women interested in hunting, but the color of the clothing might not be that great of a motivator for the women who are genuinely interested. I’m not into golfing, and I’m sure not going to become interested in it just because they make pink golfing shirts. smirk

I would totally support BK and Suzuki sporting blaze pink out there! mrgreen

Really? Why would this upset you? Wear your orange. If other woman want to wear pink good for them.

    This is a non issue.

It’s definitely not something I’m upset about. I just think the idea is silly and I don’t think it should pass.

Yeah that’s pretty silly, you’d think lawmakers would have better things to do….nevermind.

Along with those leather boots with the extra high heel.

On that note, Joel showed up to Nebraska bragging about these fancy new hunting boots he brought with, said they were in some Vogue magazine. I’d never heard of such a hunting magazine, figure it must be something he picked up at the U of M.

Anyways they turned out to be highly impractical in rough terrain, but had great ankle support. Nice texture too.

I can’t believe nobody commented about a lawmaker wearing a shirt that says: Hunt Pink….

Might give off the wrong impression out of context. rotflol

However, there are a lot of ladies outside wear that includes pink. Whether they like it or not. So i suppose it is good that they can now wear something comfortable and also be visible as hunters too.

Why shouldn’t it pass? It’s not a safety issue, pink will be plenty visible. Hi vis green should be legal as well.

Hunting or golfing is not going to happen for me in the near future….but I would wear hot pink hunting and golfing cloths…well maybe not the golfing wear, it’s a little tight for my liking. )

While I was reading your comments Sharon, I was saying to myself not every female is like you in your thoughts about hot pink and being just a hunter when in the field…but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more women, non hunting women wearing the pink than hunting women.

I also feel that if a person is going to hunt, the color of the wardrobe is not going to be the deciding factor.

Maybe it’s just my bias thinking, but the elected official in WI should be figuring out how to make the cat fishing limits less excessive then supporting a new line of clothing… Just me I’m sure.

See, now that I wouldn’t mind. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a fan of pink when it’s being specifically tailored to women. I don’t like being catered to because of my gender when it’s unnecessary (meaning, I am thankful they make a female adapter for my portable urinal. That would be a challenge otherwise). Perhaps initiatives for more gear/clothing that fits women’s sizes and shapes would be a better idea rather than focusing on color.

I would love one of those fancy fishing shirts that are lightweight and protect from the sun… however, the women’s sizes are mostly pastel and UGLY! Why do they do that? Can’t they just make the same colors that men get, but in women’s sizes? I would probably consider buying more gear/clothing if it was available in women’s in black, gray, or camo.

I see and agree with both sides of this. However, “Pink Camo” is becoming a quite popular color pattern in the female outdoors world.

While I support your stance 100% Sharon, I have 2 young girls who are all googly eyed when we stand in Cabelas in the very small lady’s camo section. Of course, anything pink really draws them. That said, while the selection is small, it’s better than it’s ever been. Hopefully getting better all the time.

I question the visibility of Pink on misty/rainy days. I have a daughter that has some pink camo and it (in my opinion) doesn’t reflect as well.

As for women’s clothing in general. Too many women just “settle” with buying mens’ cut clothing AND buying the Fashion stuff. If many more women were sending letters/emails to the manufactures demanding a stronger line of womens cut, it would happen in some lines.

It’s not just women, I am seeing more and more guys with pink all over there bow, strings, sound dampeners, releases. This confuses and irritates me

It would be interesting to see how fast stores change or add this pink line to their selection. Personally I see hands under the table pushing this through to offer consumers more crap they don’t need.

But with that said I also know my daughter points out the pink camo in stores. And my Mother who doesn’t hunt, but does shoot guns and bows, probably would dec out in some pink to go along on hunts with her husband.

To me, whats most interesting about this “Blaze Pink Camo” idea, is that its coming up right in the middle of crunch time for our State of Wisconsin legislators. The biennial budget needs to be completed by the end of June.

So what do some of our fearless leaders decide to down just when negotiations get hot & heavy down at the capitol?

How about bringing up a silly pink camo bill. What could be more important than that?

Makes me wonder if this is nothing more than a intentional distraction to give people something else to talk about.

It certainly has gotten plenty of people from Minnesota talking about it….

I started hunting before blaze anything. All our deer outfits were red.
Red is not good in low light and not a lot better in the fall woods at distance with full light.

some professor at the U of W said that humans see blaze pink as good as and at times better than blaze orange… whistling sounds like a safety improvement also and who could argue against that ? grin
