I have the Strikemaster Honda 35cc Lite Ice Auger (http://www.rapala.com/strikemaster/power-ice-augers/gas-ice-augers/hondaandtrade-35cc-lite/Honda+35cc+Lite.html?start=1&cgid=strikemaster-power-gas). I bought it used for a good deal. I think it had been used once. It fired right up after I added gas. I changed the oil after the first time out using the required viscosity.

The first time out it worked great! I was very impressed. I dug about 8 holes in ice that was about 16″ thick. Today I had it out on a lake that had ice 30″ thick. I’m pretty sure I severely dulled the blades.

Is there a rule of thumb for how long the blades will stay sharp? The ice seemed pretty clean to me. No sand, rocks, etc.

I can’t figure out which blades are a direct replacement. I haven’t looked for a part number on the blades. ( But I did look in the manual to see if it listed a part number and I couldn’t find one.

How tough is it to sharpen these blades? I’m pretty good a sharpening knives but these blades are just different enough that I’m quite sure how to go about it.

Thanks! I ordered two sets. I’ll play around with sharpening the old blades.

I have one as well and had a similar situation. I think I just drilled into dirty ice. You can’t see it, but you sure can tell when it happens.
