Anybody have any experience hunting this area? I see it has 68,000 acres total. Mostly be bow hunting and taking the kids too. They hunt from the ground in blinds.
Any info would be much appreciated!!

I would assume your referring to the area around black river falls, wi. If so, I haven’t hunted that much but have just north of there in the clark Co forest.
From the time I spent around black river, its a lot of pines and sandy soil. Hunting pressure is average to slightly above average for public land. Lots of roads to travel on though.
Fair amount of deer around there but it is now a CWD unit so keep that in mind also.

Didn’t know about the CWD being up there. I need to do a little more research I guess.

The cwd was just recent. They found it in the northern part of Jackson county so now Jackson, eau Claire, and Clark county are all cwd now.

Chronic Wasting Disease. Not a real big deal, Western States have been dealing with this for years. Up here, the DNR is blowing it out of proportion.

I spend quite a bit of my time here. Deer population has went way down in the last 5-8 years. That’s not to say its not worth your time but you have better places to go closer to home. I would check out the public land in western Jackson County or anything in Trempleau County first. We have a large population of wolves and the rifle hunting pressure is still pretty strong. Honestly though, archery season you pretty much have run of the place.
