Black bird slough

Warning to anyone going back to black bird , i was planning on crossing over from prairie island yesterday as i have crossed the last few weeks no problems but yesterday i made it almost all the way across and noticed water bobbing up and down through the snow covered ice roughly 15 feet ahead of me directly on the path ,so i stopped in my tracks put my ice picks on and blasted a hole where i stood and maybe 6 inches of ice there i was only 30 feet away from shore And maybe 15 from a opening in the ice , needless to say I didn’t finish crossing . Word to the wise use extra caution if your going this way i have a feeling I’ might be done crossing there this year
