Iowaboy, I am really doubting the combination you mentioned would stay long enough to perform the above mentioned “cleansing”. Thinking it would be more of a boomerang reaction.

I googled it. A Washington Post article said,

“Figgy pudding Spam tastes like a hot dog fruitcake. Run away.”

    I’ll pass.

    I’d give it a whirl…
I mean figgy pudding’s base is animal fat. But I do believe there’s a brandy component in figgy pudding and I don’t see that on the ingredients list?? Kind of hard to read.

But nothing Hormel has ever made has steered me wrong before. Love SPAM.

For those grossed out by SPAM… if you eat hotdogs or brats, it’s spam within a casing.

    Oh Contrary my Southern friend.

SPAM is fantastic bait for large blue, channel and flathead catfish. In 2001, an Arkansas angler named Charles Ashley Jr. set both the state record and world record using SPAM as the bait to catch his 116-pound, 12-ounce blue catfish in the Mississippi River. Ashley’s state record still stands today.

For those grossed out by SPAM… if you eat hotdogs or brats, it’s spam within a casing.

In fact, SPAM only contains six ingredients! And the brand’s website lists them all. They are: pork with ham meat added (that counts as one), salt, water, potato starch, sugar, and sodium nitrite. Most of those are as simple as simple gets!

Now you want to talk about hot dogs…

    40-50 water… and
Aside from the meat, here are some other hot dog ingredients you may see:

Spices for flavor, such as pepper, garlic, coriander, cinnamon, cumin, nutmeg, paprika, and allspice
Meat stock to intensify meat flavors
    Yeast extract for savoriness
Sodium nitrite to cure and preserve the meat
Sugar or corn syrup to promote browning
    Cherry powder for color
Modified food starch to thicken the filling
Natural or artificial casing for shape

I left out the by products of the “meat”.

Close… but you’ll have to look up Hot Dogs.
    They’re only 13% LUTA. LOL!

PS Spam.com sold out the first day of sales (Nov 15th) even though they limited sales to 1 per customer. Amazon had it yesterday at $9.95 a two pack and Walmart was selling it for $14.xx +$6.xx shipping.

Instant collectors item! The Pumpkin Spice sold two years ago @ $6. for a two pack are selling on ebay for $99.00.

Figgy Pudding is the English version of Fruit Cake and I imagine it will be passed down the generations at Christmas time.

Certainly the Pumpkin Spice flavor, but the cans with the metal key attached are worth some coin too.

Klik is the Canadians Version of spam. I know because my dad once almost died after eating some of it found on a shelf in the cabin on a remote fly in lake once. I told him not to eat it. He said after eating all the crap he ate while in Nam nothing could make him sick – He was wrong rotflol He missed fishing for about 4 of the 7 days we were there. I put the emergency Big Orange X out on the end of the dock he was so bad. The bad thing was there was a mess up at the lodge we used and they were not doing fly overs daily like they should have been. To make matter worse because of the error. They did not show up to the lake till 2 days later than they were supposed to to pick us up. You should have seen the look on the pilots face when he pulled up to the dock to drop off other guest and saw us there. Needless to say that week + trip ended up not costing us .01. The owner demanded he refund our money. I still see that owner at sports shows and 30+ years later he still remembers me. It’s funny now, but was not at the time.

Always check cans (all canned goods) for dents, (small dents are ok, dents around the cans seam are auto garbage), bulging cans, foaming contents and a few others I’m missing from my food safety class days.

When in doubt, throw it out still applies.

Glad your dad only got sick, Botulism is a killer!
