Just to be clear in my head, am I seeing damage on the glossy part of the motor too on the first pic or did it just affect the flat finished plastic portion?

Yes, on the mid-section side panels.

The motor is made of all sorts of material.

The cowling is fiberglass/gelcoat, the back of the cowling is plastic, side panels are plastic, lower unit painted aluminum, prop is stainless.

B-man have you tried the boiled lineseed oil and acetone mix? I used it to make the plastics on my wheeler look new again from sun fading. It doesn’t last very long maybe a week or 2 but it could help cover up some of the fading instead of painting it. There’s videos on you tube showing how it works and the correct mixture.

A product called Wipe New made by Rustoleum may be worth a try on that plastic. It works great on the plastic trim on cars.
