Bilge Question

  • #1953921

    Hi Guys!
    I’m a newbie and just bought a 2013 Lund Pro V.
Should the bilge always be dry?
Does the boat use that water to cool the motor (Mercury 150)?
When do I turn on the pump?
If I load the boat On the trailer and remove the boat plug, will that remove the water in the bilge? Or do I still need to turn on the bilge pump?

    Thanks
    John

In a perfect world, yes, but a little bit of water is nothing to be too worried about.

No. The motor sucks it’s cooling water directly from the lake.

When do I turn on the pump?

Whenever you notice water in the bilge.

If I load the boat On the trailer and remove the boat plug, will that remove the water in the bilge? Or do I still need to turn on the bilge pump?

Pulling the plug on the trailer will remove the water provided that the front of the boat is a little higher than the back. No need to use the pump.

If water and/or rain gets in the bilge there will still be some residual water there even with the pump being ran or the plug being pulled until it dries out.
