Bilge pump replacement?

Hey fellow Lund owners, I have a 2008 pro v 1900 se tournament and think I might need to replace the bilge pump/pumps. Does anyone know how I can get to them or is the only way to go through the 2 holes on each side of the engine? (I hope not) I thought I could remove the back platform which holds the large live well, small bait bucket and storage on the other side, however after removing countless screws, it still does not move. I’m sure I’m missing something. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem on a Alumacraft Navigator. My pump was fine, but not automatic. I’ve had 2 boats swamped. One in heavy rain one night. In a covered dock. But wind blew the rain running off the roof into the boat like a funnel. The other time I believe was a old t-post along an old road bed poked a hole. Anyway I have one round access hole big enough for one arm at a time. At that point you can’t see in the hole. Lucky-unlucky. My boat was totaled in a wind storm on Rainy Lake. Unable to replace it. I negotiated to retain the boat and sent it back to the factory for a new transom. I made sure it was in bold print on the work order, to replace the pump with an automatic, while the transom was removed. Not unlike cars that you have to remove parts for 3 hours. To change a 10 minute part. But unlike a car dealership that’s happy to do it for $130 an hour. I called 3 Aluma craft dealers. One that sold it new. I bought it with less than 50 hours on it. All 3 told me if I didn’t buy it from them. They wouldn’t work on it. Guess that’s a long way of saying. Yeh, they suck to replace. Good luck!! Oh, the totaled boat was 3x. But a auto pump wouldn’t have helped!!

Thanks for the reply Stevenoak. I guess the good news is my Lund has two access points verses your one. The bad news I was never good playing the game Operation as a child. ha ha

On my old Lund I paid to have it done while the motor was being worked on. This one only had one access hole.

I would add if you are going through he hassle or expense to change it. Go with a quality automatic pump. Johnson seemed like a good choice when I did mine.

If they aren’t the one where you can replace the cartridge, that’s what I would put in. I don’t know which brand that is.

Pretty sure Johnson has the twist and remove unit like you are describing. Good news. If yours is, that’s a one hand. Pretty easy to feel your way operation. Good luck!!

Best off using crimp on connectors as they meet the boating standards. There are some that come with dielectric grease too.
