So I’m heading up for my first trip to Winnie with a small group of Ice Castle’s for New Years weekend. We are going out of the Pines Resort. One of the guys walked out there last weekend and got into some perch pretty good but no eye’s. Any advise would be appreciated. Colors, kind of minnows or anything. TIA

My trip last year which was a significant cold front, my most consistent was the basic hook & split shot deadstick combo. Fatheads and a few shiners ……

Does color matter if fish can’t tell the difference between Gold & Red? Just messin with ya. I have heard Gold for the last 40 years. grin Just like any color split tail works as long as it’s white. doah

Just got back from Winni, the fishing was solid. Lots of smaller walleyes in that hour before dark – gold was the ticket. Nothing going on the dead stick with a full minnow, spoons caught most of the fish. 11-15 feet was best for us, we fished away from the crowds on the east shore. We also managed a few keeper perch, but most of the action was from smaller fish.

I believe Chad just got a big loop plowed around the bay and is letting trucks out. We enjoyed our time there.
