Acoustic Telemetry
I saw this report last night on the Big Sandy Lake Association Facebook page. This could answer many of the myths of Big Sandy Lake and where do the walleyes go in the winter.
The following information was received from Rick Bruesewitz, Aitkin Area Fisheries Supervisor, MN DNR:
We placed some acoustical receivers on the lake for a short time this week. This is in preparation for a fish study next year.
We’ll have them on the lake through Wednesday, and then will move them into the Sandy River below the dam for Thursday.
If you’d like more information Rick said to contact him at 218-429-3037 or [email protected]. Please post your answer if you do for everyone to see.

Good luck on the water and have fun with the family!
