    Looks like a really heavy-bodied pike, Steve. How long was it? Congrats on the bonus catch!

    I fought it a long time so I wanted to get it back in the water. I did not get a measurement. Thankfully he spit the hook in the net. I figure 36″ at least, maybe a little more? They are few and far between on the Croix but I am seeing more perch and bluegill up here. The pike are becoming more plentiful also. Coincidence? )
    Second one I caught in as many outings but this one was remarkable. The girth was incredible.

    I pulled this one out of the St Croix about 2 weeks ago. 34″ but with a head the size of a shovel. Fun catch on a light action rod with 6# braid on it.

    They are eating good in the neighborhood. I was using 30lb power pro and a med hvy baitcaster. I thought there might be one where I was fishing.
    Not that big but there’s Muskie around also

    Nice pike Steve. I’ve caught a couple of nice pike on the Croix trolling for muskies. Your right, they are probably more scarce than the muskies. 2 summers ago, I got a 42 incher down by the kinni and also caught a few decent ones around the big dam.

    I was bummed it wasn’t a muskie. It was a mean SOB and went nuts in the net and broke one of the eyes off my pole. I just wanted it out of my boat. -)
