Last week I got a phone call and heard; “you better have work off”. Long story short fellow IDO staffer Andy Fiolka, good buddy Steve and myself headed down to Kansas with a report of simply good ice. We worked hard fishing brush on channel edges to catch a good amount if quality crappies. We all got a few right at or over 15 and good numbers of eater sized fish. Trigger X pan fish plastics in red on tubby jigs worked best. Kansas wind was a hinderance at times but we stayed Mobil and kept the strike masters warm. I love a good adventure and after another week of work we are loading the shacks up for an even bigger one!!

How much ice did you find? I was very close to making that trip last season.

    Those are nice looking slabs.

anywhere from 2-7 inches, weather doesn’t look good and with open water and wind I worry it might end soon. We had local contacts which helped. – QB

Awesome, never ice fished the lake but fish there a lot in the spring summer for walleyes mostly. Great walleye lake as well!

I don’t know if I like QB’s or Andy’s version better, sounds like a fun trip on both accounts!

Did you guys fish on the West end of the lake or all over? I was hoping to get out today or tomorrow before the ice gets bad with temps in the 50’s this weekend.
